As a local to Waterloo County, Dr. Catherine Watson is excited to serve the eye care needs of Elmira, St Jacobs and the surrounding regions. Having completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in BioMedical Sciences at the University of Guelph, graduating “With Distinction” in 2015, she then successfully entered and completed the University of Waterloo’s Doctor of Optometry program, graduating on the “Dean’s Honours List” in 2019. She has enhanced her skills through externships in Brantford and North Waterloo, working with both optometrists and ophthalmologists to cover a large scope of eye health and vision expertise including Contact Lenses, Glaucoma, Age Related Macular Degeneration, Cataracts, Diabetes, Dry Eye and Myopia Control. She loves to care for families and takes a special interest in the rehabilitation and maintenance of good vision through vision therapy. She recently completed a Vision Therapy course with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and is excited to work with other professionals to help patients who struggle with double vision, reading difficulties, and eye muscle precision.
In addition to her passion for eye care and patient health management, she adores animals and the outdoors. Her favourite hobbies include hiking, gardening, canoeing, and enjoying the hammock in her backyard. As a choir director for the past ten years, she thrives on music and loves to sing in her spare time.
